Outdoor Heated Water Bowls for Real Winter Conditions

For kennels, runs, cabins and homesteads.

Most 'heated' bowls on the market are designed for sheltered porches and warm garages. Ours are designed to sit outside in snow, rain and continuous sub-zero temperatures for an entire winter. Different problem, different build.

    What 'outdoor-rated' actually means

An outdoor heated water bowl needs three things a normal bowl doesn't: a fully sealed heating element, a weather-resistant cord that won't crack at −20°C, and a thermostat that handles wide temperature swings without burning out.

Our bowls are built specifically for this. The cable jacket stays flexible to −30°C. The heating element is potted in food-safe resin and sits behind a stainless-steel basin. The thermostat is a wax-bulb design with no electronics to fail.

    Use cases we built for

We designed these bowls after seeing too many 'indoor' heated bowls fail in Finnish, Swedish and Estonian kennels. The original use cases are still the strongest fit.

    • Kennel runs and outdoor enclosures
    • Hunting cabins and seasonal cottages
    • Farmyards and small-holding livestock setups (small animals)
    • Outdoor cat colonies and TNR feeding stations
    • Working-dog properties (sled dogs, herding dogs)

    Power and placement

Plug into any standard EU outdoor-rated outlet. The 35W draw is small enough to run on a long outdoor extension. Place the bowl on a flat, slightly elevated surface so meltwater drains away, and route the cord with a drip loop below the outlet.

Average winter electricity cost: €1–€3 per month per bowl, depending on local rates and how cold your climate runs.

    Frequently asked questions

Can the bowl sit directly on snow or frozen ground?+

Yes. The base is insulated and the heater compensates. For best efficiency, place the bowl on a wooden board or thin foam pad to slow heat loss into the ground.

    What's the IP rating?+

The bowl and cord are weather-rated for continuous outdoor exposure including snow, rain and freezing temperatures. Avoid full submersion of the plug, and use a covered outdoor outlet.

    How long does it last?+

Designed and tested for multi-season use. The thermostat is the most-stressed component and is replaceable; the heating element has a typical service life well beyond five winters of continuous use.

Does it work for goats, chickens or rabbits?+

Yes for any small animal that drinks from a bowl. The water-only models are well-suited to chickens, rabbits and similar. For larger animals like horses or sheep, you need a heated bucket or trough rather than a bowl.
